HOW IT WORKS

When alcohol is consumed, it enters cells and is broken down into acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde is an extremely toxic compound believed to be responsible for most alcohol-related diseases and for the addictive process itself.

Acetaldehyde is converted by the body into acetic acid - a non-toxic acid which is readily used by the body to provide energy. It is then further broken down into water and carbon dioxide. Since the human body is only able to metabolize a certain amount of acetaldehyde within a certain period of time there may be an excess of acetaldehyde entering the bloodstream. This is what causes severe damage to the vital organs and functions of the body.

RU-21 balances alcohol metabolism by slowing down the process of ethanol oxidation into acetaldehyde, so less acetaldehyde occurs in the first place, then it speeds up the process of acetaldehyde decomposition into acetic acid and then water and carbon dioxide.

The process of slowing down ethanol oxidation into acetaldehyde was accomplished by including glucose in the formula. Glucose rapidly breaks down the liquid inside liver cells thereby preventing ethanol to use this same liquid to convert into acetaldehyde. To prevent these cells from becoming oxygen-starved in this process and to provide energy to mitochondria (the micro-organisms that give the energy to liver cells to break down acetaldehyde), RU-21 adds Succinic Acid and Fumaric Acid. L-Glutamine is added to speed this up and to improve the coordination and inhibition processes (in the brain) affected by alcohol intoxication.

Ascorbic Acid was added to the formula in order to activate anti-oxidant systems of the central nervous system, liver and hormone-active tissues and to support adrenal gland cortex, which produces anti-stress hormones.

I have ordered these a couple of times now so I must really like them, but I like them because for me they work.  If you take two with your first drink as the directions say and two with your last drink, the effects of too much alcohol is either really minimized or nonexistent the next day.  I just ordered 6 more boxes so that I don't run out again.

I have ordered RU21 for the second time and I really like the way this product works.  I used to use the Chaser product when it was available, but I actually like RU21 better. If you follow the directions, taking two with your first drink and two with your last drink, you (or at least I) don't feel any affects of a hangover from too much alcohol the next day.  I just ordered 6 more boxes.
